STUNNING 1ST CLIP FROM "TOTAL RECALL" REMAKE WITH COLIN FARRELL & KATE BECKINSALE! CRAZY PICS OF JOHNNY DEPP IN "DARK SHADOWS"! NEW BANNER FOR "MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS"!
Well, my little freaks, it seems we are going to have a picture Friday today at HOLLYWOOD SPY, since a bunch of new movie images have appeared around the net today. First you can check out a new banner for MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS, an upcoming summer blockbuster
which brings together some of the biggest super heroes from Chris Evans' Captain America, to Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Jeremy Renner's Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow and Tom Hiddleston's Loki. The film is out this May.
trailer (they've really waited a long time to show it) will be aired today or tomorrow. The film, following crazy adventures of the family of monsters, also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Jonny Lee Miller and Helena Bonham Carter and is a film adaptation of the popular gothic soap opera from last century.
dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly
wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man.Finding himself on the run from the police - controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world - Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and
the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate. The cast also includes Ethan Hawke and always delightful John Cho.

DARK SHADOWS
Then, there are crazy pictures (click on them to see them bigger) of Johnny Depp and the rest of the cast from Tim Burton's DARK SHADOWS which also hits cinemas this May, and I think the first trailer (they've really waited a long time to show it) will be aired today or tomorrow. The film, following crazy adventures of the family of monsters, also stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Jonny Lee Miller and Helena Bonham Carter and is a film adaptation of the popular gothic soap opera from last century.
TOTAL RECALL
But probably the biggest treat today is the first clip, which shows 30 seconds long mishmash of some powerful scenes from the remake of sf classic TOTAL RECALL, promising some visually really nice scenes and sets. The story revolves around the company that can turn yourdreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life - real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. FIRST PICS FROM "HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA"! COLIN FARRELL IN "ARTHUR & LANCELOT" EPIC? EMMY ROSSUM IN POKER FILM "WAY DOWN SOUTH"! JEREMY IRONS JOINS EMMA THOMPSON AND VIOLA DAVIS IN "BEAUTIFUL CREATURES"
We finally have the 1st pictures from one of the most promising of the upcoming animated flicks: check out the images from HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA which hits cinemas this September set in Dracula's lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up,
free from meddling from the human world. But here's a little known fact about Dracula: he is not only the Prince of Darkness, he is also a dad. Over protective of his teenage daughter, Mavis, Dracula fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to dissuade her adventurous spirit. As a haven
for Mavis, he opens the Hotel Transylvania, where his daughter and some of the world's most famous monsters - Frankenstein and his bride, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, a family of werewolves, and more - can kick back in safety and peace. For Dracula, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem - but his world could come crashing
down when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.Adam Sandler will give his voice to Dracula, Kevin James is Frankenstein, Fran Drescher is his bride :), David Spade is Quasimodo, Steve Buscemi and Molly Shannon are married werewolves and Cee-Lo Green is Mummy!
And here's another good news: according to "Variety", our dear Michael Fassbender might take the lead role in MOUNTAIN BETWEEN US, a romantic drama I mentioned recently which, based
on the novel by Charles Martin, follows two strangers who survive a plane crash in the Colorado woods and are forced to rely on one another for survival, eventually falling in love. As you know, Fass My Benders first has to finish two Ridley Scott's films THE COUNSELOR and PROMETHEUS, the second one premiering this summer, and he also has TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE, a Brad Pitt produced historical film on a man living in New York during the mid-1800s who is kidnapped and sold into slavery in the deep south. Another interesting info today is that Warner Bros. has decided to bring back the cancelled ARTHUR AND LANCELOT epic from the dead (at more than $100 million it was deemed too expensive last winter) but with Colin Farrell in one of the lead roles which were previously meant for two TV stars Joel Kinnaman (THE KILLING) as Lancelot and Kit Harington (GAME OF THRONES) as Arthur.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
The cast for the film adaptation of fantasy saga BEAUTIFUL CREATURES keeps getting stronger: this hauntingly intense coming of age story set in the South, follows two star-crossed teenage lovers, Ethan,
a local boy, and a mysterious new girl, Lena, who uncover dark secrets about their families, their history and their town. As you remember, two Oscar nominees Emma Thompson and Viola Davis are already in the cast, beside Emmy Rossum and Jack O'Connel and now another Oscar gent Jeremy Irons is in negotiations to join them as well. Speaking of lovely Emmy Rossum, all of you who enjoy some poker and gambling mixed with action might enjoy her other new project as well: she will join rapper Nas and Jack Huston in WAY DOWN SOUTH, which tells the story of a gambler and small time crook, who steals a Civil War-era sword from a museum to finance his escape from a loan shark who staked him in a losing poker game. The film is being directed by Jonas Pate who worked on FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, CAPRICA, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA...

WARNER BROS RETURNS TO "MANDRAKE" AND "THE DARK TOWER"? CRAIG HORNER IN "JOEY DAKOTA", VANESSA WILLIAMS IN "666 PARK AVENUE", UPDATES ON "BEAUTY AND THE BEAST", "GILDED LILYS", "THE SELECTION" AND "ELEMENTARY" TV PILOTS!
It seems that Warner Bros. is returning to their plans on film adaptation of two famous books/comics. Firstly, according to"MovieWeb" they again want to adapt MANDRAKE THE MAGICIAN, one
of the famous comics a lot of us grew up with. The comic follows a dashing magician and a hypnotist who fights crime with the help of his friend Lothar, the strongest man on Earth. And it seems that, after a cancellation, they are again turning back to THE DARK TOWER film adaptation, which was deemed too massive with three films and two seasons of a TV show which would cover the complex story of Stephen King's saga about a nomadic gunslinger who travels around strange futuristic world in the search of The Dark Tower. The film is still supposed to be directed by Ron Howard with Javier Bardem in the lead role and with HBO doing the two seasons of TV show which would be aired between the three films to connect the story.
I have some updates for you: Amazing Craig Horner, whom we started to love after his lead role in legendary LEGEND OF THE SEEKER, will finally come back to TV in CW's JOEY DAKOTA, which will focus on Maya (Amber Stevens), a documentary filmmaker working on a film about deceased rock star Dakota. Travelling back in time to the 1990s, Maya meets and falls in love with the musician, becoming determined to prevent his death when she returns to the present. Meanwhile, a show I mentioned in the spotlight, 666 PARK AVENUE, has just cast Vanessa Williams as the owner of one of the oldest apartment buildings in New York which becomes home to paranormal events. David Annable
(BROTHERS AND SISTERS) plays the lead role as the mean who manages the property according to "Digital Spy". The show has also signed super dashing Robert Buckley (he was brilliant in LIPSTICK JUNGLE and ONE TREE HILL) as one of the tenants of the house. CBS pilot ELEMENTARY in which Jonny Lee Miller and Lucy Liu will play modern day Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson solving crimes in New York has added Aidan Queen as a NY cop who worked with them at Scotland Yard too. On the other hand, the most promising of the new shows,CW's sf saga
THE SELECTION, which will be set 300 years in the future following a young girl (Aimee Teegarden) who enters the competition to become the new intergalactic empress by marrying the prince (Ethan Peck), has added Leonor Varela and Martin Donovan as prince Maxon's parents, Queen Amberly and King Clarkson. Deadline reports that British sf star John Barrowman (TORCHWOOD) has lended the lead role in ABC period pilot GILDED LILYS as the charming son of the central family in the show, which tells the story of the opening of the first ever luxury hotel in New York City. He joins Sarah Bolger from THE TUDORS, Blythe Danner, Matt Long, Madeline Zima...

UPDATES ON 2012 TV PILOTS
You've recently had a chance to read HOLLYWOOD SPY'S SPOTLIGHT ON 2012/2013 TV PILOTS, presenting all the upcoming new shows, but I have some updates for you: Amazing Craig Horner, whom we started to love after his lead role in legendary LEGEND OF THE SEEKER, will finally come back to TV in CW's JOEY DAKOTA, which will focus on Maya (Amber Stevens), a documentary filmmaker working on a film about deceased rock star Dakota. And over at CW,
Kristen Kreuk won't be alone in BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, about a beautiful NY detective who develops a relationship with "The Beast", a survivor of a botched military experiment, since the lead male role went to handsome Jay Ryan from TERRA NOVA. As you know, ABC also has their version of BEAUTY AND THE BEAST but theirs is set in the fantasy realm where a beautiful and tough princess (Ruth Bradley) discovers an unlikely connection with a mysterious beast (Darius Campbell). The cast of that one also has F. Murray Abraham as Emperor Dorian and Karen LeBlanc as the fearless leader of rebels who want to dethrone the emperor.
TOBEY MAGUIRE GOES SF IN "THE 5TH WAVE"! DISNEY'S SF EPIC "PALADIN"! CHARMING TRAILER FOR DIANE KEATON'S & KEVIN KLINE'S "DARLING COMPANION"! "JOHN CARTER" EARNS $100 MILLION WORLDWIDE 1ST WEEKEND
He hasn't been present much lately as an actor, and they've even stolen the SPIDER-MAN gig from him and made an extremely horrible choice by giving it to unnoticeable
Andrew Garfield, but Tobey Maguire still has his producing job in Hollywood. According to "Variety" he has just bought film rights on THE 5TH WAVE, a yet to be published sf novel by Rick Yancey, in which the story centres on a young girl who is one of the few to survive a massive alien invasion, as she goes out to find her missing brother. The aliens can disguise themselves as humans, and the boy who helps her on the quest may or may not be one of these extraterrestrials in disguise. It's interesting that Rick Yencey hasn't even written the novel saga yet, and the deal is based only on his book proposal pre-emptively sold to Putnam Books.
It's been a very slow month so far in the trailer business, people, so the only clip I have for you today is for a charming comedy drama titled DARLING COMPANION which premiers April 20th with quite a
stellar cast. It followsBeth (Diane Keaton) who saves a bedraggled lost dog from the side of the freeway on a wintry day in Denver. Struggling with her distracted, self-involved husband Joseph (Kevin Kline) and an empty nest at home, Beth forms a special bond with the rescued animal. When Joseph loses the dog after a wedding at their vacation home in the Rockies, the distraught Beth enlists the help of the few remaining guests and a mysterious young woman in a frantic search. Each member of the search party is affected by the adventure, which takes them in unexpected directions – comic, harrowing, and sometimes deeply emotional. The cast also includes Dianne Wiest, Elisabeth Moss, Sam Shepard, Richard Jenkins... Lawrence Casdan directs.

HOLLYWOOD SPY HEADLINES
According to "The Hollywood Reporter" Neil LaBute will direct SOME GIRLS with quite a nice star studded cast including Emily Watson, Adam Brody, Jennifer Morrison (who is quite popular these days thanks to the lead role in planetary popular ONCE UPON A TIME show), Kristen Bell and Mia Maestro. The story of the film revolves around super charming Adam Brody who plays a man who attempts to make amends with several ex-girlfriends on the eve of his wedding. All of the actresses mentioned above will play his exes.
Disney is planning a new huge sf adventure after JOHN CARTER epic (which has just been released and although it earned just $30 million in USA in the first weekend, it has had huge success around the world breaking, for example, records in Russia as the biggest opening day in Russian cinema history. The film has earned $100 million worldwide in the opening weekend beating the negativity with which the film was bombarded by from evil fanboys who prayed for film to become a flop
without even seeing it. The audience has actually received the film with warmth and positivity and the film might score even better in the 2nd week). It will be titled PALADIN, and although the story is kept under wraps, it is known that it will be a big space epic and that it will be written by young Max Borenstein who is currently penning THE SEVENTH SON, the film adaptation of THE SPOOK'S APPRENTICE fantasy book by Joseph Delaney with Kit Harrington and Julianne Moore in the cast.

THRILLING TRAILER FOR STEPHEN DORFF'S "BRAKE"! JENNIFER LAWRENCE & BRADLEY COOPER IN "SERENA"! JOHN KRASINSKI & MATT DAMON IN "THE PROMISED LAND"
Since period projects are quite trendy right now with the success of DOWNTON ABBEY, you might like the sound of this one: "Variety" reports that Rhys Ifans might join Bradley Cooper, Toby Jones
and Jennifer Lawrence in SERENA a movie adaptation of a novel by Ron Rash. Story unfolds in the mountains of 1920s North Carolina, with Cooper playing a timber baron and Lawrence playing his wife Serena, who battles the government to save their lands and engineers the murder of her husband's illegitimate son. Ifans is in talks to play Galloway, a vicious Appalachian guide who becomes Serena's muscle after she saves his life. Jones is set to play Sheriff McDowell, who doggedly pursues Cooper's character. Ifans has been quite busy recently: beside starring in Roland Emmerich's ANONYMOUS last year he also plays Lizard in THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN and will also appear next to Emily Blunt and Jon Segel in THE FIVE YEAR ENGAGEMENT.
And I have a very intriguing and quite interesting trailer for you today: it's the clip for action thriller BRAKE in which the story revolves around a Secret Service Agent who is held captive in the trunk of a car and endures high-speed mental and physical torture as terrorists attempt to extract needed information for their sinister plot. The film with unusual setting has Stephen Dorff in the lead role. You've probably noticed that he kinda returned from the dead after playing Henry Cavill's slave and side-kick in Tarsem's mind blowing epic blockbuster IMMORTALS last winter. The film opens in cinemas March 23rd!

As "Deadline" reports, John Krasinski and Matt Damon will star in Gus Van Sant's THE PROMISED LAND, in which the story centres on a sales executive
who begins to question his life when he is called to a small town on business. According to "Variety" Warner Bros. will adapt LUCID comic into a film. The story of the Archaia Entertainment (with whom Warner is also doing BOLIVAR film I've mentioned last week) comic takes place in a parallel universe where magic is real and world leaders have secret agents working to fight off supernatural threats. Main character is a young agent, recently appointed "Protector of the Realm" who must use his skills as a covert spy and combat mage to stop an occult technology dealer.

SPOTLIGHT ON THE FUTURE PROJECTS OF ALL "GAME OF THRONES" STARS: KIT HARRINGTON, LENA HEADEY, EMILIA CLARKE, RICHARD MADDEN, HARRY LLOYD, NIKOLAJ COSTER WALDAU
In honour of the second season of one of the most popular epic shows GAME OF THRONES scheduled for April 1st with the episode called "The North Remembers", I've decided to do a spotlight on the future projects of some of the most popular stars from the cast of this brilliant show. As a special addition you can watch the sixth trailer bellow, promoting the beginning of the second season in which they've used SEVEN DEVILS song from Florence And The Machine. Enjoy the spotlight :)
, will go a bit sf in JUDGE DREDD, the remake of the famous sf film about a future society in which cops are also the judges who sentence people immediately when they catch them. Beside Karl Urban who takes the lead role, Lena will play the main villain Madeline Ma-Ma Madrigal who deals the reality altering drug and runs a whole criminal mafia. She will also join Michael Sheen, Ioan Gruffudd and Sam Neil in fantasy film MARIAH MUNDI AND THE MIDAS BOX a lavish adventure about a teen girl who unites with the strange adventurer 'Captain Charity' in order to find her kidnapped brother. The trail leads them away from the smog of Victorian London to the mysterious Prince Regent, a majestic hotel on a small Island at the furthest edge of the Empire. Inside it's lavish exterior lays an amazing and unusual steam powered world, beyond Mariah's wildest dreams.
and this year we shall watch him in BBC's GREAT EXPECTA- TIONS series, which is very interesting since Harry is in real life the great great great grandson of Charles Dickens. Next year we shall watch him next to Mark Strong and Vera Farmiga in CLOSER TO THE MOON, a very interesting film about a Romanian police officer who teams up with a small crew of bank robbers to pull off a heist by convincing everyone at the scene of the crime that they are only filming a movie. As I reported earlier this week he will also take part in BBC's epic TV project HENRY IV in which he will star next to Jeremy Irons as the king and Tom Hiddleston as the prince.
Daenerys Targaryen, who will try to take her rights in the second season after the death of her hubs Khal Drogo. We shall also watch Milie Clark next to HOLLYWOOD SPY's favourite Karl Urban in OVERDRIVE in which he and Ben Barnes play a pair of handsome and adventurous brothers, known for being high-profile car thieves, who travel to the South of France looking for new challenges and come across a tough local crime boss. She will also star in British film SPIKE ISLAND next year about a rising indie band which travels to Spike Island, Cheshire, in May of 1990 to see The Stone Roses.
equally brilliant project BIRDSONG earlier this year in which always flawless Eddie Redmayne played an English WWI soldier who fights in the horrific trenches of northern France haunted by the memories of his forbidden love affair with a French woman. I really hope we shall see more of Richard Madden in the upcoming years, even though he has been a bit in the shadow of Kit Harrington in GAME OF THRONES, and he deserves to be in the spotlight himself.
forces up in the frozen North in the 2nd season of GAME OF THRONES. As you know he got the royal role in ARTHUR AND LANCELOT epic which then got cancelled, but we shall still watch him in another fantasy epic THE SEVENTH SON next to Julianne Moore, Ben Barnes and Jeff Bridges as the seventh son of a seventh son who learns how to exorcise ghosts, contain witches, and bind boggarts in the 1700s. He will also star this year in SILENT HILL: REVELATION the story of a girl who has to run from strange demonic forces. The cast includes Sean Bean, Carrie Anne Moss, Malcolm McDowell...
but thanks to his dashing appearance he has scored a role in Tom Cruise's untitled sf epic about a veteran soldier sent to a distant planet, where he is to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveller causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself. He will also take the lead role in MAMA, a strange horror about a couple faced with the challenge of raising their young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years.... but how alone were they?
LENA HEADEY
Her Royal Incestuous Naughtiness queen Cersei Lannister will be busy after she finishes plotting and doing evil in GAME OF THRONES. Lena Headey, whom you also remember as queen Gorgo from 300, will go a bit sf in JUDGE DREDD, the remake of the famous sf film about a future society in which cops are also the judges who sentence people immediately when they catch them. Beside Karl Urban who takes the lead role, Lena will play the main villain Madeline Ma-Ma Madrigal who deals the reality altering drug and runs a whole criminal mafia. The trail leads them away from the smog of Victorian London to the mysterious Prince Regent, a majestic hotel on a small Island at the furthest edge of the Empire. Inside it's lavish exterior lays an amazing and unusual steam powered world, beyond Mariah's wildest dreams.
HARRY LLOYD
Amazing British star Harry Lloyd who was absolutely brilliant as evil Dragon prince Viserys Targaryen died in the first season but his career is moving on since we've seen him as young Dennis Thatcher in THE IRON LADY,and this year we shall watch him in BBC's GREAT EXPECTA- TIONS series, which is very interesting since Harry is in real life the great great great grandson of Charles Dickens.
EMILIA CLARKE
Another lovely lady whom we love a lot in GAME OF THRONES is definitely Emilia Clarke who plays the Dragon queen and the khaleeseDaenerys Targaryen, who will try to take her rights in the second season after the death of her hubs Khal Drogo.
RICHARD MADDEN
Another young British guy we also adore, Richard Madden, who plays the brave and magnificent Robb Stark who will lead the army to free his sisters in the second season, has had a brilliant gig in BBC'sequally brilliant project BIRDSONG earlier this year in which always flawless Eddie Redmayne played an English WWI soldier who fights in the horrific trenches of northern France haunted by the memories of his forbidden love affair with a French woman. I really hope we shall see more of Richard Madden in the upcoming years, even though he has been a bit in the shadow of Kit Harrington in GAME OF THRONES, and he deserves to be in the spotlight himself.
KIT HARRINGTON
Probably the most popular member of the cast, Kit Harrington has really earned a lot playing John Snow who will have to face strange forces up in the frozen North in the 2nd season of GAME OF THRONES.
NIKOLAJ COSTER WALDAU
Probably the most charismatic member of the male cast in GAME OF THRONES is Danish star Nikolaj Coster Waldau, who will continue with his evil deeds in the second season as well as Jaime Lannister, but thanks to his dashing appearance he has scored a role in Tom Cruise's untitled sf epic about a veteran soldier sent to a distant planet, where he is to destroy the remains of an alien race. The arrival of an unexpected traveller causes him to question what he knows about the planet, his mission, and himself. He will also take the lead role in MAMA, a strange horror about a couple faced with the challenge of raising their young nieces that were left alone in the forest for 5 years.... but how alone were they?
Although we loved him heaps as Khal Drogo, Jason Momoa isn't returning since his character is dead, but it seems that after last year's CONAN THE BARBARIAN he is about to become an action star since he will join Sylvester Stallone in BULLET TO THE HEAD playing a cop and a hitman who form an alliance in order to bring down their common enemy after watching their respective partners die. Meanwhile, Josef Altin, who plays Pypar from the Night Watch and whom I must thank for being a dear friend of HOLLYWOOD SPY and a very nice lad, has recently auditioned for a role in LES MISERABLES and he might join Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe in the film.
